The historical background and cultural relations between Iran and China dates back to ancient times and the will of the two countries has been to maintain this level of interactions to this day.

Hawzah News Agency –Hojjatoleslam Imanipour in a meeting with Chinese Ambassador in Tehran, Chang Hua, referring to the historical background and cultural relations between Iran and China, said Iran and China have new ideas to present to the world adding that that we must present a true picture of the two countries.

According to the Public Relations of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Chang Hua, Ambassador and Joe Xie Hao, Cultural Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Tehran, while attending the Headquarters of ICRO in Tehran, met with Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, and discussed expansion of cultural cooperation.

Hojjatoleslam Imanipour, in a speech, referring to the cultural commonalities between the two countries, said the historical background and cultural relations between Iran and China dates back to ancient times and the will of the two countries has been to maintain this level of interactions to this day.

Emphasizing the expansion of cultural cooperation between the two countries, the head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization announced the readiness ICRO to cooperate in various fields of cultural studies, exhibitions, research and gathering of cultural delegations, as well as hosting the Chinese Cultural Committee in Tehran.

Referring to the translation of the book from Chinese into Persian and vice versa, he said the agreement about translation of books is a good idea that can lead to more familiarity of two nations with each other.

Hojjatoleslam Imanipour called for communication between the cultural elites of Iran and China and said universities of the two countries can have a greater share and role in the field of intellectual and cultural communication of elites and we hope this will be possible based on the potentials of both parties.

We can hold joint meetings and implement joint programs in the fields of combating Islamophobia, Iranophobia and Sinophobia, and we are interested in using the potentials of the Chinese elite in these cases, added.

Hojjatoleslam Imanipour concluded his speech said for us, the development of cultural cooperation with China is a priority and we are interested in establishing the Center for Chinese Studies in some scientific and cultural centers of Iran.

Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Chang Hua, referring to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Iran-China diplomatic relations, said it seems that this year is a special and different year and we should plan for the development of cultural relations between the two countries.

The Chinese ambassador added, cooperation and interactions between the two countries have expanded considerably in the last 50 years, and we hope that this cooperation, especially in the field of culture and art, will be developed further.

He referred to the visit of the former head of ICRO to China in 2012 and the holding of a joint Iranian-Chinese cultural commission and said unfortunately, only one meeting of this joint cultural commission has been held since then, which we hope due to breakout of Coronavirus, its second meeting to be held virtually.

Chang Hua called for establishment of cultural center of Iran and China in the capital of the two countries and said we intend to benefit from each other’s cultural potentials by establishing these cultural centers and the relations between the two countries will be strengthened more than before.

He also referred to the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, especially in the fields of cinema, book translation and protection of historical monuments and said we are interested to cooperate extensively with Iran in varies areas including, academic and scientific, cultural studies Iranology, Sinology as well as broadcasting the historical documentary of Iran and China.
